Hi,
since I don't know whether I have a hardware or an OS problem, I post
in two groups.
I just bought a HP nc6120 with XP Pro. In addition I have an external
LCD on the left of the notebook. The LCD stays connected to the
notebook and is rarely turned of (mostly on stand-by). When I start the
notebook, everything is fine through startup, welcome-screen with
choice of user and the first appearnce of the desktop. But shortly
after that, both displays flicker and the display settings are resetted
which places the external display to the right of the notebook.
You can imagine how annoying it is to do these setting everytime I
start the computer!
It happens with all kind of accounts, both admin and restricted. Most
likely the LCD is not the culprit: I already tried it with another one
but with the same effect.
It kind of reminds me of working with the battery. First the internal
LCD is bright during startup, only later does XP check whether it is
running on battery and then reduces the brightness.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Yours,
Viola
