XP Firewall

My PC is in a Networked Domain environment. When I enable
the XP firewall my PC drops off the network. Does anybody
know why please?
 
i'm assuming it is at sp2
apparently the firewall does this by default; had that issue here at the
office after upgrading a system
you can either stop the firewall service, but if you really need to use it,
you need to allow ports 135, 139 and 445

Is it XP SP1 or SP2? It's most likely because you're not letting the file
sharing ports through and/or DNS/DHCP for lease renewal.
