Is it possible to use the File transfer wizard over a Network instead of
using a null modem cable?
What I have is a windows 2000 machine ( at a different location) on a
network and just got a new PC with XP and would like transfer the users info
using the file transfer wizard. Any help is greatly apreciated!

Yes, use the wizard on the XP machine to create a bot
program that will collect the required data on the W2K
machine. Then export that file by sending it as an
attachment to the new machine and save it. Then use the
wizard on the XP machine to import that file.

Yes.

On any available shared drive create a folder named \Transfer.

Run the FASTW on the Windows 2000 machine and tell it to save the file
to that folder on the shared drive.

When that is finished run FASTW on the Windows XP machine and tell it
to import the data from the \Transfer folder on the shared drive.

See MVP Gary Woodruff's article on using FASTW at

Good luck
