XP fax trouble

I have fax service on our Windows 2003 server and it is shared with all our
clients (98/XP). Windows 98 clients are able to send faxes but XP clients are
not. They all have access to the fax console. The local fax and the shared
fax are online at the same time on the XP clients. Could it create a
conflict? Note: SP2 is installed on the XP clients.

No, I haven't been able to send a fax from the Windows XP machines since I
upgraded them from Windows 98. And the article didn't help. I did try it but
it didn't work because it's made for Microsoft Windows Small Business Server
2003-based computer and I have a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition.
Thanks again!

The other thing I can think of is to make sure that your hardware (fax modem
or fax printer) is compatible and your driver is up to date.

I am sure you have done this but just make sure you are connecting to the
shared fax server correctly.

sure.)

If all that are ok, try to isolate the problem. In the XP machine, try to
uninstall the shared fax and see if the local fax work. And vice versa.

I'm presently experiencing exactly the same problem. Windows 98 users
can connect to the fax server without a hitch. It's only the Windows XP
users, whether SP1 or SP2, who can't send.

I've tried adding a user to the administrators group once. This solved
the problem and he can send faxes through windows xp. However, this is
more a security threat than a solution. I don't want to make all my XP
users domain administrators!

Gogotero, have you found a fix for this?
