XP Fax Console "Sent Faxes" list does not display

M

mel

I use XP fax to send faxes, but when I check which Faxes
I've sent in fax console, the sent faxes list does not
display after sorting by date or any column. The list
starts to display before the sort. I can still click on
an area of the list where a fax should be identified, and
can get a preview of whatever fax I an clicking on, but I
cannot see the list. Any ideas????

Thanks!

I've seen no reports of behavior like this, nor can I reproduce it.
Can you give us any steps that would reproduce the behavior?

Hi Russ, glad to be working with you, I've seen some of
the threads you've followed and problems solved.

What happens is this. I load the windows fax console to
check the list of faxes I've sent direct from the
computer, usually printed from Word with the XP fax
driver. When I click the "sent faxes" folder, I usually
see a list of the faxes I've sent starting from the very
first and then "updating" to add all of them into the
list, which is now about 530 faxes long. You can follow
the updating in the status line at the bottom of the
window, "100 items", "200 items" up to "530 items" and
then as soon as it's finished updating the list goes
blank. I can move the mouse pointer over the area where
the fax identifier should be displayed, and double click
the area and get a preview of the fax I happen to be
pointing to, but I can't see the list at all.

This problem started about three or four weeks ago. In
that time I have been investigating user accounts on this
computer (I only use a stand alone computer for my
business, a Compaq 2525 laptop right now) as I didn't (and
still don't) need or want to go through the logon screen
when I start the computer. I have always had the "guest"
account turned off and have set myself as the
administrator. I have tried to restore the computer to a
time when I didn't have this problem (I think??) but so
far no luck. I might try to restore to an even earlier
time. Other than the administrator/guest account thing I
don't think I have changed anything.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

Thanks!

mel.

Russ - I have found one fax that I generated and sent from
the computer appear to be causing the blankout of the fax
console "sent faxes" list. When I removed this fax file
using windows explorer, the list shows properly as it
should. The fax was part of a four-fax broadcast, the the
other three do not cause me any problems. If you wish I
can send you the file to see if there is anything attached
to it, or??? Please respond to my e-mail

Thanks!

No clues here, except that's an awfully large list of sent faxes to maintain
within your Sent Items Folder--more than you would need I suspect. Just one
corrupt entry and you could have problems.
Why not move all but the most recent to a different archive folder and see
if that clears things up?
