XP FAX and Caller ID

V

Vince

Using XPpro with SP2 and updates.

Whenever my residential telephone line receives an incoming call, at
my PC screen I see a pop-up that prompts me if I want to answer the
call with my FAX modem. At one time, the telephone number of the
calling station was also shown. Is there something that must be set
within the XP FAX to enable showing the incoming telephone number?

I do have caller ID service to the line.

Thanks.

I am not looking to eliminate the balloon; rather want to enable the
Caller ID to show the telephone number of the incoming caller.

OK, see if this helps:

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Phone and Modem Options, and then click the Modem tab.
3. Click Properties, and then click Advanced.
4. In the Extra initialization commands box, type AT+VCID=1, and then click
OK.
5. Restart the computer.
