XP does not display new found hardware

I recently upgraded from XP Home to XP Professional. Now
when I connect new hardware using USB 2.0 ports the
system does not recognise the new hardware. The usual
message "New found hardware" with a crocodile icon in the
system tray does not show up. The result is I can not
install the hardware. Any help will be highly
appreciated.
 
Do u have Windows XP SP1 installed? You need that and to make sure your
system has the correct drivers installed for your USB 2.0 card.
