Found New Hardware

I don't know what is wrong but everytime a add a flash drive to a computer
running XP SP-2 it starts the Found New Hardware Wizard, I thought XP SP-2
has drivers already installed for flash drives? I know it does as I have
used it on another computer.
Now I have restarted the system it is coming up with Found New Hardware
Wizard about my CD/RW drive

Whilst what you say is true, whenever you insert a Flash drive that has not
been connected before, Windows still has to install it. Simply put: this
entails putting an entry in the registry for that specific flash drive
telling Windows which driver to use. In fact (unless the drive is serial
numbered - many are), plugging it into a different USB port will cause
Windows to install it again (as it has no way of knowing if this is a
different flash drive of the same type).

I'm not sure why your CD/RW drive has to reinstall, but as long as it does
so and works, there should be no problem.

Well the problem is that the flash and cdrw does not install it ask for the
drivers which it shouldn't be doing

I'm starting to get confused her as you are not being as clear as you could
be.

Are you saying that when you connect a flash drive (or CD/RW), you are
getting the 'New Hardware Found' wizard, but that the devices don't actually
become useable (i.e. they don't install)?

If this is not the case then please give a bit more detail, because I don't
think I yet know what your problem is (although I thought I did).

Yes that is correct
