My XP Pro SP1 installation was an upgrade from W2000 Pro.
When merely accessing a website, it got the third bluescreen, telling
me of total system failure. First two happened various weeks earlier.
My attempts to repair the installation failed.
I deleted the partition, made another one. The ENTIRE reinstall
process (several of them) happened at a the speed of molasses in
January. I left the PC on over night, and it wasn't done in the
morning (copying files, etc). (?)
When I finally got it to reinstall, when it rebooted and started to
load up, I get a blue screen - The system feels it is a device driver
issue - the file framebuf is the culrit.
So, repeated attempts to do a fresh re-install have failed.
Attempts to Install WNT workstation, then upgrade to XP Pro have
failed, with the same issue.
So I decided to go back to my old standby (has never crashed) Windows
2000 Pro, and now it won't complete its installaion. After the file
copy process of the installation, and when the W2K logo comes up for
the first time - it freezes there.
BTW, Microsoft support doesn't have anything, that I could find.
Any thoughts? Only Windows NT workstation has completed its
installation!
