FRAMEBUF???????????

The other day, I tested a DUEL head video card I found in a old system.
It tested fine I put back the OEM card. The next day after powering up
the system I get a BLUE screen with the msg:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent
damage to your computer." It goes on to say about trying to re-boot,
which I did same msg, something about a loop.

I tryed to download XP on a different HD, first it took over three hours
and then it hung. As a control I installed 98SE and which point my 1.2
GHz system went to a craw and I couldn't run anything. I tryed to
re-format and use smartdrv and install XP again, getting the same above
msg except now it said something about a file called FRAMEBUF.
All together I tryed three different HDs and I still get the same mgs.
PLEASE HELP. Thanks

Its probably down to the graphic card and driver. The wrong driver for the
card. You said you put another card in. Windows probably installed the
correct driver for the new card. When you put the old card back windows
didn't load the correct driver. Have you tried booting in safe mode and
removing the old graphic card driver.

You can also try system restore either via safe mode or the command prompt.

Type C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe from the command prompt.

Looks like that it, but I can't get into "safe mode"
The whole point is Glen this is a fresh install on a blank
drive and so it should go for the video card thats already there
and besides I had plans to install a different duel head card.

I also said try system restore from the command prompt. Boot from the XP CD
to the recovery console.

I think your saying you ended up reformating and reinstalling windows and
now have the problem. If thats the case try puting the other graphic card
back in. If I undersatnd you correctly its when the OEM card is in that you
have the problem. Take is out and put the other card in.

I tryed that: "Type C:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

from the command prompt."

It came up as invalid, right now I'm in the process of re-installing
the XP op system with the other video card. Like before the install
is running very slow.
