xp connecting to windows 98 password folder

my windows xp with the latest service patch are having problem with
those windows 98 password protect folder. without any password, works like a
charm.

from the command prompt, the windows 98 machine will prompt tat password is
incorrect.

Is it Windows XP Home or Pro?

When you startup the Windows 98 computer, are you entering a userid and
password? Does that match a userid / password setup on the XP system?

chuck. most of the time from windows98 connecting to xp there's the
login problem. me using windows xp pro. the problem is with windows98.
i am not connecting from windows98 to xp pro. i am from my xp box
connecting to other windows98 pc on the LAN.
win98 no problem accessing all winxp pc.

problem with winxp pro n home accessing win98 folder with password.
chuck, u hav any mix of winxp n win98 in ur LAN. u can try it out after u
hav patch those winxp with the latest sp.
