I am running a system where a disk drive was removed and
later returned. Chkdsk runs every reboot and no longer
finds an error. I believe on the first time it found
something wrong. But I didn't have time to note what it
said.
The knowledge base indicates there was a problem with
Windows 2000 Q310841:
"Cached FRS Data on an NTFS Volume Is Lost Under Stress
This article applies to." Event Id 55...
The article claims there was a fix for windows 2000 but
indicates nothing for windows xp.
I believe many people are experiencing this type of
problem.
I have visited a number of posting sites and everyone
offers suggestions ranging from broken hardware, to
reload xp. I suspect a windows xp problem (note I was
operating in a domain on a windows 2000 server, but the
system is now running standalone.
Another user on a different post claimed the same problem
with a disk config of 80 hd1 and 120 hd 2.
Coincidentally, that is the same config I have.
Any help on this would be appreciated.
