XP CD writing wizard

I'm trying to copy files from a hard drive to a CD using Windows
cd writing wizard I right click on a file and send to my liton burner I've
done this many times before. Now the CD Writing Wizard stops with the
messages:

Insert a writable disc to continue There is no disc in the drive but there
is one already in

Clues:
=======
Clicking "Next" on the CD Writing Wizard does nothing - it stays on that
same screen until I cancel.

Clicking on the CD drive (G:) in Windows Explorer shows the "Files Ready
to Be Written to the CD".

1. What has happened to my system?
2. What's the best newsgroups/forums to get help?

Regards,
Tim

Are you sure you are using a CDR(W) that has not been formatted? If
you have previously used this CDR(W) with a program like DirectCD (I
think Roxio now calls it Drag to Disc or something like that?) or
InCD, it will be unusable to XP and you will get an error message
similiar to this when you try writing to it.

Solution to Xp Writing Wizard

1. obtain Easy Cd Creator 5 Basic and install. (software)
2. put a blank cd-r in your drive.
3. start "DirectCd Format Utility"
4. click on format cd.
5. enter a volume lablel if you wish, optional.
6. continue through the process, cd will now be formatted.
7. Done, you can now drag files over to the blank cd.
Note: Each cd usually holds about 700mb, when you eject the cd you'l
be
asked to either Leave as is, Close Cd to be read in most cd-roms o
another option. If you want to add more files to the cd in the future
if there is still
enough space, then you should just choose the option Leave as is. Mak
sure that the close cd option is "unchecked". Only close the cd whe
you do not want to write any more files to that cd, in this case the c
should be full.
You can however use other third party software, but Roxio's Easy C
Creator 5 Basic works fine with no errors with me so i'm satisfied

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
