XP cd key - oh dear....

I just replaced my hard drive and installed windows, but when I tried to activate it now the cd key won't work?

Do I have to remove xp from my old hard drive to use the cd key again?

Im confused and stupid. Please help.
 
Ah, sometimes when you replace hardware windows doesn't like it too much and you have to re-activate. Was there a number to phone?

I've done that once before and it was fine after I gave them a call :)
 
Yes it did. And its told me to give the sales rep a 4000 digit code :p

Phone MS ... use the OLD key, NOT the new one ... you will be given a UK 0800 # to phone.

Just tell them you had to buy a new HD ... and have a note of the Key ready. :thumb:
