Hi,

I have a VPN service using PPTP. I established a connection from a remote XP
client (Service pack 1 without the inbuilt firewall).

Once connected I can "ping 192.168.1.199" (my terminal server) and can
"telnet 192.168.1.199 3389".

When running the terminal server client to 192.168.1.199 it cant find host.

If I can ping the server and telnet 3389 port, why cant I connect to the
terminal server ?

It works from any other machine I have tried.

Thanks for any information.
Scott

Try this from a Command Prompt:

mstsc /v:192.168.1.199:3389

appears to be a problem with a single internal XP machine on service pack 2
also. but another internal XP machine on SP2 gets the login screen ok.

Thanks for reply.

I entered the following in a command prompt:

mstsc /v:192.168.1.199:3389

and got the message:

"The remote computer disconnected the session because of an error in the
licensing protocol. Please try connecting to the remote computer again or
contact your server administrator".

The terminal server licence server seems to list certificates for many old
machines. If clearing this list would it solve the problem ? and how do you
clear the certificate list ?

Thanks for your help.
Scott.
