Is it possible to map a drive over 3389 using 2003 TS + remote desktop ?

Hi,

Im trying to figure out if its possible to map a drive from a XP workstation
running Remote Desktop connecting to a 2003 terminal server over the net to
port 3389 ?

I understand you can share the workstation "DRIVES" within Remote Desktop
which makes them available under My Computer on the Terminal Server
Desktop - but I need to actually MAP these drive i.e NET USE L:
\\clinet\cdrive so I can run a scheduled batch file.

The batch file will not run unless the drive is mapped as it cant find the
host when the clinet c drive is shared using the Remote Desktop option. When
using Remote Desktop share option the C drive is available on the TS desktop
as an "OTHER" drive.

As Im connecting over 3389 then WINS will not work hence I cant find the
path to \\clinet\share.

Can someone please verify whether this is correct ?

Thanks for your time
Scott.

Under a Remote Desktop session you can see the shared remote
drives as \\tsclient\c, \\tsclient\d etc. It's now simply a matter of
mapping these shares to a drive letter.

Thanks for reply. Any idea how ?

CLIENT - running XP pro + remote desktop
|
|
net
|
|
3389
2003 terminal server

- In the Remote Desktop app the client has enabled "Local Resource" and
"Disk Drives" so the C drive of the client appears in the Terminal Server
session desktop "My Computer" as "C on Workstation".

How can I map ?
- I cant see the workstation in MY NETWORK PLACES.
- There is no map drive option when right clicking the "C on Workstation" in
My Computer on the TS session.
- Net Use #: \\workstation\c says "The network name cannot be found"

Is this simply to do with the syntax of the net use command ?

Im still sceptical that it can find the share as surly NetBIOS and wins
would have to work and I don't think it does over RDP ?

Thanks for any advice.

ah I see..... literally \\tsclient\c ..... I thought this meant the client +
share name.

I must have skipped school the day we did RDP in class : )

thanks for your patience.
