xp automatic update

I have xp automatic up date turned on. When Microsoft
announces a new patch for their software, does that get
automatically uploaded to my computer or do I need to go
to the xp security site and download it myself?

microsoft releases updates on wednesday afternoons.
this is the best evening to do updates.
