xp audio volume slides itself to zero

Just upgraded to xp. Audio card worked fine under W98.
Now the volume control slowly drops to zero volume
whenever you "let go" of it with your mouse. When volume
control is held by mouse the audiocard does seem to work.

The card is ES1869 Plug and Play Audiodrive (WDM) and the
driver ships on the xp cd.

Any ideas or solutions appreciated.

make sure u don't have a key sticking on key board
arrow down or if u have enhanced keyboard the vol down

I don't have a volume control on my keyboard and no stuck key that I can
identify. I think the stuck key would cause things to scroll down on
web pages and such and it is not. Thanks for the suggestions!
Any others?
