Leslie

I am trying to download the patch for the worm virus.
First off, I can't install the firewall because it shows
that my AOL is "disconnected". This means I can't change
the settings. Obviously, this is wrong, since I'm on it
now.
Also, how do I find out whether I have I have Windows
XP with 32 bit or 64 bit? I upgraded the home version
from Windows ME. When I go into my computer, it only
says Windows XP. Thanks!

You AOL connection and XP's firewall aren't compatible.

32.

I upgraded the home version

That's because you upgrade you ME install to XP.

Hi, Leslie.

The easy answer is that you have 32-bit. It takes really big bucks to buy
64-bit-hardware computers; if you had one, you'd know it!

As to the other, I don't know the answer, but there are dozens of messages
here about the virus, so just read a few. You won't even have to type your
question again. ;^{

I just stepped one of our users through fixing his home computer over the
telephone. He was running XP and I had him install the patches
(WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe, Norton), etc. Now its up and I had him go
back to windows update which he did. Its asking him to put SP1 on it. If I
do, does he need to re-apply WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-ENU.exe after it boots?

Thanks!
