XP and scanner issue

I have Windows XP home ed on my Dell desktop. My HP 4200-C scanner has never worked properly with XP home ed. The scanner operates fine following boot-up, however, after about 10 minutes, the scanner won't respond to commands. After a restart it will work fine again for approximately 10 minutes. A frustrating cycle. Any help or counsel--thank you.

I would start by calling HP tech support. It sounds like perhaps your
scanner is overheating. HP tech support should be able to tell you how
to troubleshoot it.
