SP@ and scanner problems

Dfter updating windows XP Home Edition with SP2, I get the following message
when trying to use my HP Scanjet 4200c scanner. "Cannot find your scanner."

I downloaded & installed the latest driver from HP. The scanner appears
under my computer & in the hardware list under device manager. After
extensive e-mails to HP, it was suggested I try the scanner & cable on
another computer without SP2 installed. I did & it worked.

I have tried unplugging the scanner & reinstalling everythingto no avail.
does anyone have any suggestions?

maybe it is a problem with your USB port, just guessing on the connection.

Strange. SP2 had no trouble finding my Epson scanner. Perhaps it is the
port, and perhapd SP2 didn't cause the problem; it merely revealed it.
