XP Activation

I recently put XP Home on a brand new computer and then learned that I need XP Pro to connect to a network. I have already activated the XP Home, but I am going to wipe the HD and start over, using the Pro OEM on that computer. My question is, how do I put my Home on another computer that I have to wipe the HD on without getting it rejected by product activation? Do I need to contact Microsoft to prove that I bought both copies of XP? I have yet to recieve Pro or install XP Home on the other computer. I really appreciate any help; I hope I didn't waste money on the XP Home.

Actually, Pro is needed for connecting to a Domain. If
you do not need to connect to a Domain then XP Home should
suffice. Home will work for peer networks, or workgroups.

If the XP Home is OEM, then no, you cannot reuse it per
its license agreement (check the EULA). Retail versions
can be moved (a different license agreement). You should
have no trouble reinstalling it and activating, I believe
it will let you three times on Retail FPP versions - not
on OEM (OPK or SB)versions. If it is retail and you do
reactivate, remember that if you upgrade hardware in the
future it may force you to reactivate again, and that
would be your third time.

Good luck.

You need pro to connect to the network ? In
connections,home does everything
pro will do except working with some ecription.Once a copy is installed
and activated to a machine it cant be transfered to another.

The only reason you would need pro to connect to a network
is if you are connecting to a domain. XPHome will connect
to a workgroup which most home networks use.
