Xnews Question

Hello, i'm looking to set up multiple servers on the freeware prog
xnews.....can anyone tell me the biggest ones?......i want to set up
xnews to have access to as large a list of groups as possible......

i am trying to set up my computer to have the abillity to communicate
with the masses through all the major mediums of communication...(after
all..information is power right?...lol).....

i remember seeing a list of the biggest news servers but after serching
google without joy i thought i would ask if anyone knows a link?

I work as a consultant and often need quick answers to others problems.
Access to as broad a range of communication mediums and experts in
various fields is a real bonus to my job if i dont need to reach only a
small group of contacts via phone. and also a live broad overview of
what people are talking about in the world so i can make statistical
trend predictions based on what is being discused would help me a lot.

i have also been considering irc as a medium and was wondering how this
compares to newsgroups?.....if you know of any other mediums which give
access to the masses please let me know.....(NOTE: i am not interested
in bulk mailing software suggestions thanks)....just the kind of
mediums which allows me to have as broad an access as possible to the
largest meeting places on earth...so far i am aware of newsgroups, irc,
p2p networks, message boards, but are there any other major meeting
places/mediums i am not yet aware of?.......are there any comparison
charts which show levels of participation on the different mediums?

thanks if you can lend me your know how and reccomend the biggest
servers for xnews......cheers........A

Here's a list of irc servers
http://www.irchelp.org/irchelp/networks/servers/index.html

IRC is a great source of info, but like usenet, sorting out the "noise"
just takes some time and experience. :) A powerful, free irc client (I used
for several years, but no longer have the time for irc'n) Visual IRC ViRC
http://www.visualirc.net/ bit of a learning curve though, but well worth
it.

This is the alt.comp.freeware news group and your discussion is
off-topic. It would seem from your use of "I" & "ME" that the only one
benefitting from your participation in this group is "YOU".

is this the only prog which can connect to multiple servers??....or are
there other clients which do the same?

is this program designed to mass communicate in comparison to other
clients?

Cheers.....Al

i guess what i'm looking or is the xnews of irc.....does this fit the
bill?

Well I suppose it would for <me> as xnews is my fav. usenet client,
conversely, ViRC is my fav. irc client. I think most all irc clients are
capable of connecting to multiple servers. But what suits me best isn't
necessarily true for others. And my use of the word "best" is completely
subjective. I suggest simplying trying some to see what fits you "best" :)

Here's a good starting point for checking out free irc clients

I hope you are not a spammer, but, anyway, have you considered MMORPGs or
maybe the Friendster/Orkut websites?

nice tips.....not so sure about the mmorpgs though......the only people
on these groups are just simply wanting you dead with an rpg or long
range misile rather than forming network relations.

thanks for the pointers......A

First of all how do you consider Xnews freeware to be off
topic???....we are in the freeware group!

Secondly...if you bothered to checkyou would see i also help others
with suggestions on ACF when i can but since my computer knowledge is
limited i am unable to give advice as often as those with more
experience and knowledge...........this is the third stroppy post i
have recieved from you without any provocation and without me giving
any aggresive comment in reply. Considering we have never spoken on
usenet before, dont you think maybe you have nothing better to do with
yourself than go looking for confrontation with strangers by making
unprovoked insults?......its people like yourself who make unprovoked
and unneccesary insults towards others that i'm sure most usenet
posters would agree they can do without.

If you dont have anything nice to say to people then dont say anything!
......dont bother reading my posts and kill file me instead of making
unnecessary insulting comments if you dont like reading my posts.

I think i make it very clear in the Titles of my posts when i am
posting a question by useing those giveaway words like "question" or
"advice needed".so that people dont have their time wasted by reading
only questions instead of new infomation.....NOTE FOR YOURSELF: when
you read these giveaway words they generally suggest to most semi
intelligent people that if you are not interested in answering others
questions on freeware then you dont click on the "read more" link
instead you pass it by or even killfile the poster..(just a helpfull
techinical tip for the future which only the real experienced usenet
users know)

and whilst your at it go to your local chemist and get some anti
depressants and do everyone on usenet a favour.....assuming you are not
depressed and its just a personallity defect which makes you so stroppy
perhaps speaking with a neurosurgeon is the last hope.

Your previous post to me read: Grow up!

fuc*ing CHEER UP more like back to you

as you know my reply to your "Grow up" was "but i'm only 12 years
old!".....most people would have been less diplomatic and just engaged
in a flame war......

your reply to this was "you act like you are 8".......whats your
problem???....can you not recognise when people are doing there best to
ignore stroppy misserable people like yourself by not throwing an
insult back? must you keep on?.....If anyone needs to grow up its
people like yourself who have no control over their unsocial comments
and do everything they can to try and cause offense.

PS....i'm not intrested in a flame war on this group so i will just
ignore should you try and start one

PPS ....I have attention defecit hyperactivity disorder and get free
cocain tablets on the national health service....perhaps it can also
help with your stroppyness.....send me your address and i will send you
a sample.

thanks for that info...yourve been a big help.

here is a nice tip for you....if you like WAV alarm clocks but dont
like jumping out of your skin when iron maiden comes on at 6am, try the
only freeware alarm clock with pre defined fade in volume time.....its
a real nice gentle way to wake up. Its called "Wakeup" i have mine in
sinc with my fade in bedroom light too...louise armstrongs "what a
wonderfull world" makes a good wake up tune for me. or U2's Its a
beatifull day.

you may need to do a bit of searching on google...i know its still
around but cant remember where...i last saw it only a few months ago
but have just tried for 10 mins with no joy....note:there are progs by
the same name without auto fade in

Ahhhhhh.....here it is..........enjoy.........A

Very nice. I hadn't seen this one before. The zip file is only 19kb Such a
simple and small app. that works nicely. I will be adding it to my
archives. Much thanks for this. :)

i will look it over in the near future........i was wondering if that
was a random generated tag at the bottom of your post or just a
specialy selected piece of sarcasm.
