I am trying to iron out a few issues with Xnews as I basically like the
way it works. I don't mess with all the fancy settings in Xnews, I just
want to look at posts, threads, create message and reply. I don't change
defaults for read/unread, scoring, etc.
1. I was advised that there is no way to get it to open a newsgroup with
the Open Special sliders preset at a particular setting.
I beg to differ. On other newsgroups, like
microsoft.public.win2000.general, or alt.comp.anti-virus, the sliders
remain at my setting, and each time it opens that newsgroup, it loads the
same number of headers.
But only in ACF, the sliders are always at the 0% (left) end, and each
time have to be reset.
I don't change any other settings in Open Special, so why is it
different, and how to make the ACF setting permanent?
2. Frequently, my OP disappears. I create an OP. Maybe the next day it's
there, with a reply. But sometimes all I see is the reply, I never see
the OP. Each day I load about 3000 headers, so surely I should see it.
What's happening here?
Advice?
TIA
