For about a month now, I've had an ongoing problem where I
would open Internet Explorer 6.0 (SP1) in Windows 2000
Pro, and as soon as the browser opens, an infinite number
of IE popups appear on the task bar with the following
addresses:
1. http://69.20.5.22
2. http://anti-inc2.html
3. http://xlime.offeroptimizer.com/create/tds/anti-
inc2.html
After a while, it will try to connect to a server and
start downloading to the computer via FTP.
I was able to temporarily fix the problem by clearing out
the history, cookies, and temp files, but it came back in
less than a week.
I could find no unusual programs installed on the
computer, nor could I find any reference to "xlime," "anti-
inc", or "69.20.5.22" in the registry.
Today I downloaded and installed the newest Microsoft
updates, which I haven't done for about a month, and I'm
hoping that will solve the problem. If not, I'm sure I'll
see the pop-ups again within a week.
Any suggestions?
Thank You!
