Wrong Explorer Behaviour

Hi.
I don't really know if this is the correct place to post this message.
Excuse me if not.

The problems comes with a windows98 accessing to a Windows 2000 server,
windows XP clients and windows 2000 clients have no problems. Here is the
w98 problem:
·If I go to the network neighborhood I see a computer called "serverwk00"
(w2000 server's name). I can "explore" the server, see its shares, but when
i try to execute a file, it says: "can't access \\serverwk\ex\example.exe
...."
Why does it change "serverwk00" to "serverwk"?
·If I open a explorer and put \\89.0.0.3 (w2000 server's IP), i cant
"explore" and execute the file
·If I execute "net use f: \\89.0.0.3\ex", i can go to "f:" and execute
example.exe but if I restart the computer i cant. After restart in "My
computer" it shows: "f:, ex in serverwk" so the problem backs again.

I'm really missed with that problem. Any help would be apreciated!

I've tried to create a server alias "serverwk" with no success:
·If I create an alias in the DNS server only works for the Windows XP
clients, windows 98 clients can ping the new name but they can't execute
\\serverwk
·If I create alias in the WINS server that let me ping the new name but
either windows xp or windows 98 can't execute \\serverwk.

This windows 2000 server is the DC & DNS server.
The windows 98 client:
- It logs on the domain
- runs TCP/IP only
- IP: 89.0.0.36 Mask: 255.255.255.0
- Gateway: 89.0.0.1
- No DNS configured
- No WINS configured

Thanks in advance.

I made a mistake while posting. I wanted to say:

"If I open a explorer and put \\89.0.0.3 (w2000 server's IP), i CAN
"explore" and execute the file"
