Wrong colours when printing via network

I have an HP 3745 inkjet connected to an XP machine. The device works with
no problems.

I shared the printer and am trying to print remotely from a Windows 98 PC.
When sending print-outs via the network, the printer uses the cyan instead
of the black cartridge (even if one selects the "Use black cartridge only"
option in the printer options page). The output is otherwise ok.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

Probably because you are not using the right driver for the W98 machine.

If you open the printers folder on the xp machine, from the menu at the top
click file, server properties, then
the driver tab, your inkjet should be listed and the version shown should
include Windows 98.

If not you need to obtain the pint driver for W98. Expand it to somewhere on
the machine, then use the button below the driver window at add the driver
(a wizard will open and allow you to choose the folder) If you have an
original CD rom, you may be able to get the driver from that.
