When I first bought this computer I backed up using a DVD

However I've been looking to back up using a DVD and I can't find any software on my PC which allows me to (they all give CD- R options)

perhaps I deleted the software. what do I need ?

I've got windows media player/my computer/phillips media centre

Do you have a DVD-R or DVD-RW in your PC?
If so do you not have DVD burning Software like Nero on your PC?
If not get one free (link edited as Virus warning shown)

Did you not get Burning Software with your PC?
Most companies will normally put something on, even if it's a scaled down version, have you deleted it??

I think Phillip loaded something called Cyberlink Power to Go but I must have uninstalled it and now I can't reinstall it without a CD product key (which apparently shipped wth the product). I could check my paperwork but my filing system ain't so good

I might try Nero - can't beat a recommendation

Johnnywas: Nero is good. You can get an OEM version of Version 8 from Scan or many other suppliers for about a fiver.

It's a scaled down version of the full program but will probably do everything you need it to do, it will certainly enable you to backup to DVD.

Feckit, that link you're giving threw up this:
