wrap32.exe?

I updated my Norton's AV using Intelligent Updater. Zone Alarm stopped it
to tell me warp32.exe was trying to access the Internet. I denied it
permission and continued with the installation of the updated virus
definitions. The install first scanned both of my harddrives. This has
never happened before with updates. I Googled wrap32.3exe but there wasn't
much about it. One statement that it was part of NAV (with no explanation)
and another suggestion that it was a virus. I'm running XP SP2. Norton's
versions is 2003 Professional. I searched my system for this file and
found it in c/windows/prefetch. What should I do with it?

Wrap32.exe is part of the Symantec Intelligent Updater. However, if
you are using the Norton product, you should not see this file. You
need to use the Intelligent updater file xxxxxxxx-xxx-i32.exe, not the
xxxxxxxx-xxx-x86.exe.

The xxxxxxxx-xxx-x86.exe file includes extra definitions used to update
the Symantec Mail Security and Web Security Products. This file is
larger than the xxxxxxx-xxx-i32.exe file and does not contain any
additional definitions for your Norton product.

These files are available from
http://sarc.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-N95.html

As for the file in prefetch, you can delete it safely.

Thanks Jim (and sorry David, it's wrap). So I guess the updater was
searching my system for a correct installed program to update? Have I hurt
anything by letting this install. NAV is reporting that the last update to
it was today. I'll get the right one downloaded now :)

It won't hurt anything, but the file you need is smaller and won't give
you the alert on wrap32.exe.
