Workstation not listening on port for RDP access?

Guest

I have an XP Pro SP2 workstation which I needed to set the RDP port to 3385,
rather than 3389. I made the change in the registry as I've done many times
before, then rebooted the box. When trying to RDP the box, it says, "The
client could not connect to the remote computer. Remote connections might
not be enabled or the computer might be too busy to accept new connections.
It is also possible that network problems are preventing your connection."

I have the Windows Firewall Exceptions turned on and have an item in there
to open port 3385. I am able to connect to the workstation via VNC on port
5900 flawlessly. Any ideas on why the RDP port apparently isn't listening?
Thanks!

Is the Terminal Services service started... Go to "Start -> Run" and type
services.msc and check it... Make sure it is set to "Automatic" and it is
"Started"...

Also double check your registry change...

Thank you for that. I checked. The Terminal Services service was set to
manual. I changed to Automatic. It says it's started, however the Start,
Stop, Pause, Resume buttons are grayed out. Same deal after the reboot.
Still cannot get in.

Hi,

1. Run "Netstat -a" to see if 3385 port is listenning.

2. Run "Telnet computername 3385" to see the results.

Let me know the results.
