workgroups with Windows 2000 Pro and XP problem

Carrie

I am trying to set up a Microsoft Windows Network as a
workgroup that connects 2 Windows 2000 Pro computers and
an XP computer. They are set up using Linksys with a
wired router and a wireless Access Point. Each computer
can ping the other and I can see each of the computers on
the My Network Places tree. The Windows 2000 computers
are able to open shared documents on the XP computer.

However, when I try to open shared documents and printers
on the Windows 2000 computers from any of the group (by
double clicking the computer icon in My Network Places), I
get the following message..."\\computername is not
accessible. You might not have permission to use this
network resource. Contact the administrator of this
server to find out if you have access permissions. The
server is not configured for transactions."

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If you can use the IP instead of the DNS (\\IP), then it's probably a WINS
or DNS problem, in which case you may either need to check LMHOSTS or the
DNS Server host records.
