Workgroup and Windows 2000

We have two servers
1. Windows 2000 server that is the Primiary Domain Controller

2. Windows 2003 server. Secondary DC

3. Windows XP pro workstations

The problem is that we are unable to see the computers in the windows
network browser. -->Network Places --> Entire Network --> MS windows
Network.

As soon as we turn the 2000 server off we are able to see all the
computers in the network browser.

What is causing this?

Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like Master Browser issue. Any errors in the Event Viewer? Or use browstat.exe to check the master browser status.

I used the browstat command and was able to come up with error 6118.

I found another thread that had the same kind of issue. This is caused
by an old network card that is not being used. Even though the card is
diabled (in the BIOS) it was still causing problems.

I restarted the server and reenabled the old network card.
Than I installed the driver opened the tcp ip properties box, cleared
the IP address's out, than disabled the card in Windows, rebooted and
disabled the card in the BIOS.

Never mind no it did not.

As soon as someone connects to RAS the master browser Bonks out.

Apparently this has to do with RAS regitering another IP in WINS for
the server.

Ugh

I turned off the Master Browser on the server that has RAS on it and
this fixed the problem. I did not want to do this because I did not
know if it would create and problems.
