workgroups and 2000 domain interaction

Deb

Hi,

Our company has a Windows 2000 network. We recently acquired another
company that has 3 separate NT 4.0 Workgroups. We are looking for the best
way to incorporate the new company into our 2000 network. Can a 2000
network interact with a workgroup? Can a 4.0 workgroup be converted to a
domain so I could establish a trust relationship between the 2000 network
and the 4.0 domain? Or do I just need to start clean and rebuild all of
their servers to logon to our domain?

Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Deb

You have several options:

1. Create a domain (or domains) for the other company and set up trusts.

2. Join the clients and servers to your current domain.

3. leave the workgroups and give the new users domains accounts to access
resources. They will get prompted when they try to connect and need to enter
their domain credentials
