"work offline" msg, system crashes

somecrap

Hi I have a p4 2.4 ghz pc with 256 mb ram and 80gb hdd.
My computer was working (and is still working) perfectly
fine but for this problem. If i get disconnected (I am on
a dialup internet connection) or even if i myself
disconnect and some page was loading the message that "no
internet connection is available" with two options 1.
work offline 2. try again
BUT the computer hangs(crashes) as soon as it shows this
message and nothing works. To me this problem seems to be
related to Internet explorer 6.0.2600 . The same thing
(computer frezzes) happens if internet connection is
disconnected , no page was loading but the mouse hovers
over a link not avalable offline and hence computer shows
message that this page is not available offline and no
connection is available to internet(same mesage as above)
and freezes.

BUT this does not happen if by any way i get disconnected
and click on the file , work offline option available in
internet explorer's toolbar . Then the computer shows
pages completly fine. Also pressing ctrl+alt+del after
computer hangs shows computer working normally but no
response is taken from mouse or keyboard. Can someone
help?

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
