word won't start on my computer

I have installed Office 2003. all the programs work except for word, which
freezes on the small startup screen and won't boot up. after 45 minutes
waiting on the phone for tech support, i hung up. any advice?
 
This is a FrontPage newsgroup ... find another one for WORD.
