word templates do not work on all pcs

i have vreated templates which contain check boxes and
option buttons, text fields and fields to store dates.
they all work on my pc. when they are opened from other
pcs, however the check boxes and option buttons cannot be
set.
i saved the templates after i protect form them
the tem[plates are made available on a network drive.
when others than me open the template it looks like that
the new document is placed into design mode, and being
protected it does not accept the clicks on the check
boxes/option buttons. double click on them opens VBA to
enter the click script.
does anybody know a what is wrong?

The Active X controls? They look really spiffy on the page, but they are
memory hogs. That stuff has yet to work right. I'd use the forms controls
instead of them if I were you.
