When I try to access a Word doc, it hangs up and then I get a Not Reponding
message. I have Microsoft Office 2003.
Thank you.

When you try to open it? how are you opening it, double-click on a file
icon or opening Word then going to File -> Open?

Does this happen with Excel or another app?

Do you have any HP (scanner, printer) software installed?

Angela,

It happens when I double click on the Word icon or on documents in the
Recent Document File. So far, it hasn't happened with Excel or any other
applications.
Yes, I have an HP scanner and printer. The only thing that's different is
that before I signed off (just before this started happening), I downloaded a
new software update from Norton I believe.

Thanks.

Angela,

How can I confirm which software I have (I think it's Windows XP
Professional) but want to be sure. Also, any chance this will wipe out my
operating system? Also, is downloading the update pretty painless? Sorry to
sound so computer-phobic.

Thanks again.

I somehow feel I'm not in the correct place as I'm writing in someone elses
"message".
My problem is I have an older PC, about 2003 with that OEM version of works.
I want to use word but it tells me I've outgrown my usefulness (or words to
that effect; meaning MS is making any money off of me?). I bougt a retail
versioin of Suite 2006 and the sales associate told me it would be an
upgrade. I thought I loaded it OK as several of the Works programs have the
2006 dates but when I go t use Word it says something about 'out of date' and
asks me to update and asks for a product number which I type in the one on
the new package. and it says it is an invalid number. I think a paid 190 for
this!! but I thought it would be useful to have all the goodies. But I still
need a wordprocessor. My last disk copies of a word processor is wordperfect
on floppies which I don't got none of those drives no more. Oh, the Red Queen
is outracing me; how do I get back "Through the Looking Glass"?
