Word is 'read only'

Why when I want to open file from FrontPage ... it goes to WORD ... then
states (read only)?

please help with this

I've tried and cannot find why

Also .. keep getting dialog boxes open .. what is this?

Under Tools, Options, uncheck the box to open the file in the office
application that created it
