Word Document with strange 1/4" tick mark at bottom of page

Ted Jale

I have a Word document that has a 1/4" vertical 'tick' mark appearing at the
bottom corner of each page, alternating each page from the right corner on
odd number pages, left on evens.

System XP
Version MS Word 2002
Document Word 97-2002 Document

The top of the tick (looks like the "|" symbol shared by the "\" key) occurs
at 1" in from each edge at the bottom. I wan't able to find anything related
in searching the web or this forum.

Are you sure that there is nothing in the footer of the document?

There is a document number and page number in the footer, but the "|" thing
is outside of the footer box. You can't select it at all. If you want I'll
send you a copy...it's only a few pages long.

It could be a change bar. If you have Track Changes turned on, turn it off.
Then (whether it was on or not), Accept All Changes in Document.

That seems to be it. There was no discription of what the change was...just
a rogue change bar.

Thank you very much!

Seemed like a good guess since it didn't appear that you were describing
crop marks.
