Word and Excel generating Error reports and shut down automaticall

This started yesterday for no apparent reason. whenever I open word or excel
I immediately get a message saying the application "has encountered a problem
and needs to close." the Error signature looks like this:

AppName: winword.exe AppVer: 10.0.2627.0 ModName: opla_ui.dll
ModVer: 2.0.1.0 Offset: 00003228

I started with Office 2003. I reinstalled it and had the same issue. So I
then uninstalled 2003 and went back to 2002 and I have the same issue. my
searches on MS knowledge base and google groups have returned no answers.
any ideas???

Thanks for the link Michael. I had found that resource as well but the
issue, for whatever reason, ended up being something very odd. Internet
Explorer was crashing on me as well when I tried printing a page and I found
that to be strange so I deleted all my printers (4 of them) and all of a
sudden Word, Excel and IE worked fine. I added the printers back one at a
time and found the one printer that was causing this issue. I have no idea
why, but this seems to have worked.
