Word 2007 doc to Word 2002

I have a one page document created in Word 2007. When I open and save
in Word 2002 it appears normal except it puts an x in the file
extension when saved and the file extention becomes .docx. When I
close and open the document it does not appear to save but comes back
with just the header and footer visible. Suggestions to correct
this?
Is there a way to get back the original text in the documents already
opened and resaved into Word 2002?

Best bet is to open the ORIGINAL .docx in Word 2007 and then Save as,
choosing Word 97-2003 document. That will save it as a compatible .doc file.

It appears the you have the Word 2007 compatibility pack installed. This
will allow you to open and save documents in Word 2007 docx format. Docx
documents opened using the converter will by default be saved as that
version. You would need to change the file save type to Word document .doc
to save in the earlier format.

Thanks found this out plus I can see the other documents in 2007
version so all is not lost after all
