When I exit a Word 2003 document I am no longer asked if I want to save
changes. How can I correct this?

This was probably the result of a recent Windows update. I can't remember
the number of the particular update, but I believe it has been corrected, so
try updating Windows again. Maybe someone else will pop up with the correct
patch number so you can uninstall it?

Thank you for your comment Graham. I'll investigate the updates.

The odd thing is if I log in as a different user the problem goes away which
points to my user profile (the normal.dot file or a registry setting). I have
tried to delete my existing normal.dot file but for some reason it keeps
restoring itself. I have also tried copying the normal.dot file from the
"good" users profile, but cannot get it to work.

I'm still stumped!

The problem was in the startup file. I use GOLDMINE software. It's GMLINK.DOT
macro was causing the issue. I used the Microsoft troubleshooting macro to
methodically try different solutions until I solved the issue.
