.wmv attachments

I'm also having trouble opening .wmv attachments in winmail under vista. At
first only the audio portion played, then nothing at all. Isn't there a patch
for this? These vista problems just keep piling up. I must have been crazy to
buy this junk.

Which antivirus are you using?
Windows Mail is incompatible with most McAfee and Norton
antivirus programs. If you are using either of those two, it is
best to uninstall it and replace it with a more compatible
antivirus, such as the free version of Avast:

Save to disk, then open.

I tried saving the attachment to disk and opening it from there, but still
no joy. Just an error message saying "Command failed to execute." Also, I'm
using AVG Free antivirus, which has never given any trouble before. What else
could it be?

You can't open the saved file? What if you right-click on it,
Open With, then select Windows Media Player?

I get audio only. There should be a video as well. Hmmm.....

Probably a codec issue.

Most likely DivX. ONLY go to divx.com to download the DivX package. BUT, do a
custom install and ONLY install the codec. The other components of the package
are not yet fully Vista compatible.
