WMP will not start

whenever i try to access my windows media player it will not run, instead of responding to my command it will just make the "error sound" and will not even bring up an erroe message. Please tell me how i can use media player again

The same thing happend to me after I downloaded a security update for WMP on the Windows Update site
help us please

Scan for both spyware and virus' then reinstall WMP over itself.
