How can I disable the WMP and make WinAmp my media player??

I've tried many times to fix this problem, but it just doesn't seem to work.
On the options menu in the Windows Media Player, I've chosen for the player
not to play "ANY" media for my computer, none what-so-ever. In the
options/preferences menu for WinAmp, I've enabled it to play every kind of
media. Moe or less, I want WinAmp to be my default media player and not the
WMP. But when I choose a file/song/mp3 to play (from my mp3 list), it plays
through the Windows Media Player instead of WinAmp like it's supposed to.
What's going on here?

I've gone through the "START" button options where you can "Set Program
Access and Defaults." I've tried to do a "Custom" of my settings. I've chosen
that I have a different default player than WMP and I've disabled it. But it
still plays my media even when it's supposably shut done. I've growing very
tired of this. If anyone has any help for me, I'm all ears. Thanks . . .

I use RealPlayer 10.5 for every file type, and I have NEVER had WMP open any
type of file. Surely Winamp should act the same way.

1. In Windows Media Player, click Tools, and then click Options.
2. Under Tools>Options>File Types tab, uncheck all of the file formats
listed.
3. Click Apply, and then click OK.
Then rightclick one of the songs/MP3s on your harddrive, then go to
Open with and select WinAmp. Then click the tools tab>options>View tab>
click apply to all folders.
