WMM imports mpg files BUT ...

when I try to add the movie to the timeline all I get is the audio - video
will not go into the timeline.

Is there some known issue with all MPG files or just certain version of MPEG
files?

All MPEG files.
Sometimes they will work but very rarely. More often than not they cause a
problem and it isn't always the same problem. Sometimes you get all the way
done and the final video is where the problem occurs. It is definitely
recommended to convert the MPEG files to AVI before importing into Movie
Maker.
