Wireless

I just upgraded from the XP Home that was shipped with my
Dell Inspiron 8500 to XP Professional to allow network
access at the office. Prior to the upgrade I had no
problem accessing my Linksys wireless home connection.

After the upgrade, I cannot get the PC to talk to the
Linksys. I downloaded the latest Truemobile 1300 driver,
rebooted everything. I checked the wireless card
utilities and it can see the Access Point, I removed WEP,
enabled broadcast, tried changing channels etc but still
no wireless connection to the Web.

Anyone have similar problem that they successfully
resolved?

Tks

Both the card and the AP seem fine. Is there another item
in XP Professional that I need to fix.

I also have a family of dell laptops (3) and (1) gateway
tablet pc. When moving from my home network to any other
network, the computers will not connect at home again.
Ipconfig yeilds a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx ip that isn't part of
either network. Setting the system restore point back to
oct 27, 03 allows me to see my network again. As it is
happening only on laptops that have the intall updates
feature active, I am assuming that something changed at
that last update. I am using a dlink router at home.

Setting the restore point back patches the problem... but
it would be nice not to have to continue doing that.
