wireless will not communicate

When using a HP Windows XP home notebook with integrated
wireless 802.11g and Netgear wireless router WGR614
802.11g I can not get internet access via the notebook.
The router is connected via LAN cable to a computer with
Windows 98 and to a DSL modem. The wired PC connects to
the internet and the router setup program normally. The
router setup identifies the wireless PC and shows both
the wired and wireless PCs as being connected. The
notebook shows that it is connected to the router with
excellent signal strength. The router WEP is set to
none. Everything I have checked indicates that the
notebook and router are functioning correctly but they
apparently will not communicate properly. Any help will
be appreciated

First try your Internet Explorer settings.....In IE click
Tools | Internet Options | Connections Tab | LAN Settings
| make sure Automatically detect setting is checked.

Good luck.

Have you got internet connection sharing installed on
your windows 98 machine. This is not normally installed
as standard. I believe the Win XP disk can be used in the
98 machine to run a network wizard
