XP home LAN v. Wireless

D

don durkes

I have a notebook with xp home and wireless card (new HP).
I can either access the internet (via my router - Netgear
wgr614) OR the LAN but not wireless connection to my LAN
AND the internet.

Configuration info:
Three Windows 2000 PCs connected via NetGear wireless
router and a Win XP notebook with wireless 802.11g
connection.

Netgear suport said I could have one but not both due to
security restrictions. i find this hard to believe as i
could easily do this using a previous 802.11b notebook. To
connect wirelessly to the Net I have to disconnect from
the Network Bridge.

Thanks for the help and advice.

You may need to put the IP address of your ISP into the Network Connection
for the Laptop.

Open Network Connections
Right click and choose Properties
Click on TCP/IP
In the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window type in the IP address
of the ISP in Preferred DNS Server. Click on 'Use the Following DNS SErver
Address' to do this.
