Wireless setup

I installed Vista B2 yesterday and got the same problem as yours.
After a few steps, I finally managed to set up my private wi-fi connection.

1) Set up drivers for your wireless card then plug it in (if it's not a
built-in one). Be sure that there is no updated Vista-ready driver available
online for your card (try looking on the constructor's website via your
alternate OS).
2) Go to Start > Connect to...
3) Click on Setup a connection or network
4) Choose Manually connect to a wireless network
5) Fill-in the information for your network.
Then "normally" it doesn't work !! So follow this:
6) Go to Start > Network > Click on Network Center Button (on the main
toolbar)
7) On the left, choose Reorder wireless networks
8) In this new window, your wireless network should appear with its SSID.
Right-click on it, then choose Properties.
9) Validate all 3 options on this first tab (Connect automatically,
etc.,...), then, click on the Security tab of this dialog box.
10) Once again, fill-in ALL the fields. Be sure the informations are right.
Click OKg .
11) Go back to Step 2. Connect to your wi-fi network. It should work
perfectly now !
Well, I hope so...
If not, try restarting Windows, then repeat steps 2-11.

Hi all,

Vista mostly running quite nicely, although I have a problem connecting
wirelessly to my router. Does anyone know how to manually configure the
wireless card installed on a machine? Vista is trying to do it all
automagically, and I'd like to see the settings it's using.

Hi Philippe,

Thanks for getting back to me; I found out that the problem was that I
didn't have the correct drivers for my card to use WPA-PSK, but now I have
installed these everything is working fine.
